Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, today announced that Cricket Australia (CA) has chosen Dalet Flex to increase fan engagement, deliver more content for all its member clubs and leverage the power of AI to monetize their large historical archive. CA is the national governing body for the game of cricket in Australia, responsible for curating and producing a growing range of cricket-related content. The move is part of their ongoing commitment to continue upgrading its media operations and providing a top-tier fan experience that truly resonates with cricket enthusiasts across the nation.

“A key element of Cricket Australia’s 2022-2027 Strategic Plan is to deliver brilliant experiences to our member clubs and their participants, with data and analytics as key enablers – something that can only be achieved by working with the right technology partners,” states Dan Allan, senior content manager, Broadcast, Cricket Australia. “The Dalet solution has enabled us to further upgrade our operations and reduce on-premises infrastructure. We have eliminated significant content duplication, which saves unnecessary storage, and regained control of our historical content. This is allowing our creative teams to focus on what they do best – deliver engaging content that unites and inspires everyone to love and play cricket.”

Cricket Australia was looking to replace their previous media asset management toolset, which had reached end-of-life. Increasing productivity and delivering higher volumes of content with their existing teams was also part of their strategy. With decades of irreplaceable archives, it was important for CA to preserve and reclaim the value of their historical library. Following careful evaluation, Dalet solutions, in use by other governing bodies, both in Australia, such as the Australian Football League and the National Rugby League, and worldwide (Italian Premier Football League, French Football League, and more), were the ideal choice.

Technology that Delivers True Value

Powered by Dalet Flex and deployed on Microsoft Azure, the technology overhaul eliminates critical technical debt and operational drag, optimizing Cricket Australia’s production and distribution workflows on a centralized, all-in-one solution for ingest, AI-driven asset management, transcoding and delivery.

With Dalet Flex, both archive and production content distributed across disparate storage locations has been aggregated into a central repository. This brings considerable time and resource savings compared to the previous archive workflow.

The Dalet Flex platform incorporates AI analysis from Dalet Media Cortex which will index both live and archived content for speech-to-text transcription, close caption generation, player face cataloging and brand recognition for content monetization. Automated workflows ensure relevant content is delivered to the right audiences across a range of platforms, including fast turnaround of live events’ highlights to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, as well as Cricket Australia’s webpage. With a range of third-party integrations, such as live replays from EVS, Adobe Premiere Pro for editing, and Opta by Stats Perform for sports data import, the Dalet solution empowers CA’s creative teams to concentrate on producing high-value content.

“Dalet has extensive expertise helping sporting teams, leagues and federations – we know what matters to them and how ensuring their stakeholders and followers continue to enjoy historical archives is key,” says Ren Middleton, VP Sales – APAC at Dalet. “We have worked closely with Cricket Australia to deliver a solution that enhances productivity and accelerates time-to-market while opening the door to new revenue opportunities.”

Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, today announced the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) is using Dalet Flex, the cloud-native media logistics platform, to prepare and deliver high-value league match highlights to fans via digital channels. LFP is the French governing body responsible for overseeing, organizing, and managing the top two football leagues in France, Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT; and the 44 professional football clubs that contest the titles. Part of its charter is to manage the 100-plus club match weekly highlight videos. LFP selected Dalet Flex to accelerate the time-consuming process, automating ingest, preparation and publishing of the match highlight videos to YouTube and Dailymotion. Dalet Flex’s comprehensive production tools enable LFP to take advantage of new content monetization opportunities such as offering freemium match highlight video from the LFP website.

LFP’s Chief Information Officer, Olivier Imbert, elaborates on the value Dalet Flex brings, “Given the workload of our team and the large amount of video we’re dealing with, we needed a solution that would transform our content management approach. Dalet Flex automates the ingest and publishing process so our team can refocus their time on assessing fan consumption patterns and developing new content revenue opportunities. In just a few months, Dalet Flex has become a tool the entire team here at LFP has embraced.”

Fast-Paced Digital Media Workflow

Beyond managing the large volume of video content, LFP must adhere to a tight publishing schedule. Matches take place from Friday night to Sunday night with live or near-live content aired by broadcast rights holders over the weekend. On Monday, the content rights revert back to the LFP who, in turn, use Dalet Flex to rapidly publish the match highlights. Dalet Flex simplifies content delivery by ensuring playlist information and metadata, including mapping from XML to asset metadata, is accurate and consistent. This streamlines the process of preparing and distributing content to LFP digital properties, ensuring fans can view match highlights on any device.

“Sports teams, leagues, and federations are taking control of their content and becoming sports media organizations, and the Ligue de Football Professionnel was ready to do just that,” states Massoud Razzani, Sales Account Manager, Dalet. “They were facing gaps in workflow management, process automation, and integration between tools, making it extremely challenging, resource-intensive and expensive to deliver the massive amounts of content fans have come to expect. Dalet Flex provides the integration and automation capabilities LFP required to be successful at a competitive price point. The user-friendly environment enabled LFP personnel, many of whom do not have a technical background, to adapt to the new tools and workflow quickly.”

Dalet hosts and manages LFP’s cloud environment, lowering upfront investments and overall maintenance costs.

LFP’s content management strategy is part of a growing trend across sports teams, leagues and federations that are partnering with experienced technology companies like Dalet to take full control of their media and digital strategy, delivering exceptional fan experiences. Dalet’s agile media workflow technology, deep media management expertise and flexible SaaS and subscription business models enable sports organizations to radically shift their operations to fully focus on their content strategy and onboard future business opportunities with ease.

Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, today announced that the Australian Football League (AFL) is using Dalet Flex to manage the cloud-based digitization and workflow modernization project of its video archives. The subscription-based implementation of Dalet’s cloud-native media logistics, which was done in collaboration with partner Telstra Broadcast Services, enables AFL to tackle a large-scale technical uplift of its rich game content stored on 22,000 physical tapes and reimagine the way they share and resell the high-value game content.

“As custodians of the history of the game, it’s really important that we provide a simple way for future generations to access and experience the game’s rich history,” comments Spencer Wilson, Operations and Broadcast Manager for the AFL. “Dalet Flex provides a single source of truth for this mammoth archive. You can use Dalet Flex to search the archives, pull content and package it for monetization for any type of sales channel. The core design of the system tracks not only media assets but manages commercial agreements, compliance requirements and transactions tied to those assets. This allows us to set up an on-demand service that radically changes how we can share with our broadcast customers and fans.”

As the governing body of the professional Australian rules football, AFL is the guardian of the league’s video archives, preserving historical game content for its club members since the very first game captured on film in 1909. Concerned with degradation and loss of valuable assets and the growing storage requirements for each of the 400 plus games shot in progressive formats, the organization sought to digitally preserve its entire archive. The AFL used Telstra Purple to configure the Amazon Web Services data servers and data centers that stored the digitized game content and Dalet Flex to facilitate key media logistics functions including archival searches, retrievals, and packaging of content for on-demand and multi-platform distribution. The new on-demand media request workflow enables AFL to significantly expand the use of historical game content and deepen fan engagement from discovery of favorite club heroes of the past to the history of the game.

Dalet Sports Content Strategy and Fan Engagement

The AFL archive project comes on the heels of several high profile sports transformations including Lega Serie A, the National Rugby League of Australia, Arsenal Football Club, and the Ligue de Football Professionnel, all of which implemented Dalet solutions to drive new video strategies to expand their multigenerational fan engagement across digital channels.

“For years, AFL has been producing content and delivering to their fans all ‘for the love of the Game.’ They are leveraging Dalet Flex to enhance their video strategy, and transform from a sport organization that oversees an archive to a media-savvy sport organization that utilizes technology to optimize their high-value content,” comments Ren Middleton, Regional Sales Manager ANZ, Dalet. “Innovative on demand and digital video strategies take experience and understanding. We are able to bring all of our best practices delivering video solutions to a number of iconic leagues and teams, and deliver faster, more efficient, more impactful workflow solutions like AFL on-demand archive.”

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, today announced Dalet StoreFront, a new SaaS-based solution that enables Dalet customers to create a content marketplace that offers a familiar shopping experience for their B2B clients, partners and affiliates. Dalet StoreFront manages multi-user access to Dalet MAM stored content with advanced search tools to quickly locate assets, filtered to only show relevant materials to a qualified client.

Underpinned by Dalet MAM orchestration engine for content preparation and delivery, Dalet StoreFront creates an optimal content shopping experience that maximizes inventory exposure, repurposing and retail opportunities, bringing value to the overall media operation and business. This service will benefit just about every Dalet customer from news networks sharing assets across affiliates to sports leagues servicing licensees.

As audiences grow at a global scale, so does the need for more content. Maximizing exposure and facilitating discoverability of our customers’ new or untapped materials is more important than ever before,” states Luc Comeau, Market Director for MAM and Supply Chain at Dalet.“However, with this opportunity for increased content ROI comes additional supply chain complexities. Dalet StoreFront enables clients to tap into a rich Dalet MAM inventory with greater efficiency and speed, resurfacing and monetizing otherwise dormant archives, all within the familiar shopping experience that today’s digital shoppers come to expect.

The Dalet StoreFront shopping experience is easily actionable, discoverable through an intuitive browsing and online shopping model, and eliminates the need for back and forth email exchanges.

Comeau explains,“Today many media operations rely heavily on unconnected processes to fulfill partners’ and licensees’ requests. Requests for content via email and disparate file delivery services are manually intensive and leave far too many opportunities to repurpose and resell content on the table,” states Comeau. “Dalet StoreFront identifies the ‘shopper’ and presents all of the relevant content options they can choose from, ensuring maximum catalog exposure while keeping content rights intact.

With Dalet StoreFront, licensing content is easier than ever. Content owners can easily identify and tag content rights for their community of licensees as well as establish rights to visitors and potential licensees. Dalet StoreFront secures your rich content inventory by keeping all the source content under the control and management of Dalet MAM. Only after an order has passed through all checks, automated by Dalet Orchestration, can the fulfillment happen, thus creating a segregated browse/shopping experience from the source catalog.
