Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, is responding to the increasing flexibility needs of content producers and distributors, offering customers greater choice when it comes to cloud providers, advanced remote editing and archive options with expanded support for Adobe® Premiere® Pro, Microsoft® Azure, and Spectra® BlackPearl RioBroker.

Shifts in the global workplace over the past two years have led to more geographically dispersed remote employees that still need to connect to headquarters, colleagues, partners and customers worldwide. To achieve the flexibility needed to serve the new remote workforce, content-focused organizations are prioritizing system interoperability. They are turning to open solutions like Dalet Flex, Dalet Galaxy five and Dalet AmberFin that offer easy integration, to create extensible remote workflows that can be customized with best of breed solutions from developers like Adobe, Microsoft and Spectra Logic.

“Dalet has always encouraged our customers and partners to leverage our rich set of APIs to expand their content supply chains while protecting existing investments,” said Bea Alonso, Chief Market Officer at Dalet. “Our goal is to help companies grow for sustained success at their own pace, building long-term relationships and real partnerships with our customers.”

Cloud-based infrastructures and services are becoming more practical for content access, storage and asset management. However, many organizations prefer the flexibility of multi-cloud platforms for optimal levels of security, performance and reliability, as well as business continuity and system redundancy.

Bea adds, “The company will continue to explore integrations with providers of complementary solutions, especially cloud infrastructures and services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure and most recently, Alibaba Cloud – to strengthen its position as a true multi-cloud support vendor. Dalet Flex was one of the earliest cloud content supply chain solutions, and works seamlessly with these four different cloud infrastructure vendors.”

Dalet FlexMAM seamlessly integrates with archive solutions such as Spectra BlackPearl

The newest integrations include:

  • Extended Adobe Premiere Pro integrations for Dalet Flex and Dalet Galaxy five to support a wider set of editing scenarios, especially remote editing. FlexXTEND, the Dalet Flex panel integrated within Adobe Premiere Pro now includes the ability to collaborate, store and archive Adobe Premiere Pro projects for centralized management.
  • Dalet Galaxy xCloud on Microsoft Azure to support cloud-based radio production workflows and extend Dalet Galaxy xCloud to a wider range of customers.
  • Dalet Flex and Dalet Galaxy five with Spectra Logic’s BlackPearl RioBroker Archive to enhance existing workflow orchestration with expanded archive management capabilities.
  • Other recent Dalet integrations include Dalet Flex with Online Video Platform provider Kinow, Dalet AmberFin Cloud Transcoder Service with InSync FrameFormer and increased device support for Dalet OnePlay including Telemetrics Robotics and Avid Maestro.

Open for Integration

Today, Dalet offers more than 300 active integrations across its product range, covering every customer requirement from third-party integrations, cloud services and more. Its systems are designed for seamless third-party compatibility, allowing customers, system integrators and other manufacturers to add new capabilities through open application programming interfaces (APIs), including B2B and B2C REST APIs in Dalet Flex, and software development kits. Dalet APIs for Dalet Flex, Dalet Media Cortex, Dalet AmberFin and Dalet Galaxy five are all public and available through your Dalet representative.

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, today announced that France Télévisions has subscribed to Dalet Galaxy xCloud to enable critical news workflows from home when needed. Hosted by Dalet, the SaaS-based offering is a full-featured version of the latest Dalet Galaxy five platform that leverages the cloud to facilitate end-to-end, remote news production workflows. Once fully rolled-out, Dalet Galaxy xCloud gives France Télévisions the flexibility to support the remote work requirements of its 300 plus journalists. The flexible solution will facilitate news production workflows across national channels and the franceinfo rolling news channel, as well as support key newsroom editing applications Adobe Premiere Pro and Dalet OneCut.

“Dalet Galaxy xCloud offers us a path to news production with remote editing that is connected to our central Dalet Galaxy systems. Once integrated within production workflows, it will extend the content and the workflow tools that we use day in and day out to deliver the news beyond the physical newsroom,” comments Emmanuel Gonce, Head of Engineering for the Newsrooms, France Télévisions. “The integrated editing will allow us to be very efficient as well as connected to each other no matter where we’re reporting from.”

A cornerstone of the Dalet Galaxy xCloud offering, the remote editing framework features integration with the on-premises Dalet Galaxy five system. It supports advanced proxy editing workflows, mixing of central and local content, with proxy content cached locally to eliminate disruptions due to limited bandwidth. Rendering is offloaded to the Dalet Galaxy xCloud system, optimizing performance to break news faster.

“There are many challenges with facilitating news editing workflows from home such as VPN hurdles, security restrictions, license and VDI limitations, and more. While you can bring an on-premises editor into your house, it’s the team collaboration, news production workflow and management of files that is problematic. There is simply no editorial process or metadata management,” states Raoul Cospen, Director of Product Strategy, News at Dalet. “We have been working on mobility solutions with AWS since 2014. Dalet Galaxy xCloud leverages AWS cloud capabilities and securely connects to the Dalet Galaxy five on-premises system. There is no upgrade required. Journalists can use familiar tools like the Dalet OneCut news editor as if they were in the newsroom. They can search the production system, collaborate with producers, edit growing files and more. It’s seamless integration whether you are at home, in the newsroom or in the field.”

France Télévisions will first use Dalet Galaxy xCloud running entirely on AWS cloud, connecting high-resolution file exchange with the on-premises Dalet Galaxy five system. In a second phase, the broadcaster will move to a hybrid configuration that utilizes the Dalet Galaxy xCloud on-premises gateway component to manage heavy media processing such as creating proxy files and rendering of projects on-premises. Only proxy content will be sent to the cloud, optimizing media transfer between the on-premises system and cloud. The Dalet Galaxy xCloud hybrid implementation will also support low latency workflows such as editing growing files.

Raoul adds, “The hybrid configuration is ideal for low latency situations. For example, you are recording the latest press conference in your on-premises system. Dalet Galaxy xCloud makes the proxy immediately available via the cloud so users at home can start editing, even while the recording is still in progress.”

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, today announced major mobility enhancements for the management, performance and user experience of remote newsroom operations. Meeting the needs of the growing number of journalists and news producers working remotely, Dalet has made major usability improvements to its Dalet On-the-Go mobile app for smartphones and tablets, boosting the collaborative experience between remote journalists and the newsroom with advanced content contribution and remote planning capabilities through a brand new, modern UI.

Advancements to the underlying Dalet Galaxy five news production and distribution platform bring powerful remote editing features like cloud-based “edit while record” and support for modern open-source communications frameworks to accelerate secure content exchange across multisite and distributed newsrooms operations. Dalet Galaxy xCloud, the dedicated, cloud-hosted system managed by Dalet as a full SaaS service, also benefits from these enhancements and connects securely with your existing on-premises system, supporting advanced workflows for remote editing and news production teams.

Every improvement Dalet has made has the end-user in mind to help with agility and efficiency with remote production. This is critical when a journalist is working against the clock, where every keystroke counts while working from their home office or any remote location,” states Bea Alonso, director of product marketing, Dalet. “Our digital-first product strategy focuses on mobility and flexibility. Dalet On-the-Go and remote news production solutions, like Dalet Galaxy xCloud, empower journalists, reporters and chief editors with the technology they need to pivot, remain productive and keep telling vital stories.

Dalet On-the-Go

Available from Apple’s App Store and Google Play, the latest release of Dalet On-the-Go connects journalists, reporters and chief editors to the newsroom enabling them to manage assignments, story development, review and approval, rundowns, planning, status and contact search, all remotely. Users can easily access their Dalet Galaxy five catalog of video, audio, scripts and wires. Advanced content contribution capabilities and templates let users record media and craft stories quickly mixing local media together with remote content stored within the Dalet Galaxy five system. Dalet’s smart upload features guard against connectivity issues, reconnecting to the upload exactly where it left off when necessary. A feature-rich teleprompter supports on-the-fly reporting while tickers, wires and chat messages keep staff connected to information and late-breaking news.

Dalet On-the-Go, combined with other mobility offerings such as Dalet WebSpace, provides optimal flexibility and mobility. With a standard internet connection, you can manage the entire newsroom flow from your laptop, tablet or phone. It’s extremely powerful,” notes Bea.

Dalet On-the-Go

Recently launched as a packaged solution to help with current mobility challenges, the SaaS-based Dalet Galaxy xCloud offering is a full-featured version of the latest Dalet Galaxy five platform that, hosted by Dalet, leverages the cloud to facilitate end-to-end, remote news production workflows. The core remote editing framework supports advanced proxy editing workflows, mixing of central and local content, with proxy content cached locally to eliminate disruptions due to limited bandwidth. Rendering is offloaded to the Dalet Galaxy xCloud system, optimizing performance to break news faster.
