Find It On:

Erissa had to go and see him. The excuse she’d use tonight would be she’d made a batch of cookies and didn’t want to ruin her figure by eating them alone. Besides, it was close to Christmas, and he’d just returned from an overseas deployment. She was sure he could use some holiday cheer. In the back of her mind, she kept thinking this was a bad idea. Colton Brandt had been her son’s best friend since high school, and she was going over to his place to make a play for him.

“Everything needs to be perfect, Salem.”

The black cat looked at her from his spot on the window sill in front of kitchen sink and mewled then laid his head back down to snooze. She’d been forced to speak to her cat ever since her house became an empty nest.

With a spatula in her hand, she stood at the stove contemplating if she should dump the cookies or head over to Colt’s and give in to the lust and desire she knew he had for her. When she began placing the snickerdoodles and chocolate peanut butter crunch cookies in the plastic container, she knew she’d be going to see Colton. She remembered these were his favorites.

She’d seen the looks he’d been giving her, and for the longest time she’d tried to ignore them. She couldn’t any longer. He was twenty-five years old now and legal. Her son was on deployment, and she wasn’t dead. Just looking at Colt set her on fire and brought a white-hot need to the forefront and made her wish for naughty things. She could only imagine what it would be like to be with him physically. She wasted too much time not going for what she wanted. This time she’d take it with both hands and not look back.

“Wish me luck, Salem.”
